Mr. Jalal, the ILC,with the cooperation of the school’s admin and the English Department Staff, has just launched the first round of the “Best Reader” Competition. The competition aims to encourage students to read and widen their knowledge through reading and having view on the other cultures’ aspects of life and knowledge.
As a part of the program of the staff’s professional development at the School of Mohammad Al-Fateh, Messieurs Jalel Mabrouk, ILC and Mohammad Gamil, TDS held a workshop for teachers of the Departments of Islamic Studies and Mathematics under the title ”student-centered education”, The workshops aimed at enhancing the educational process and learning in school. The attendance expressed their appreciation for the efforts made by Messieurs Jalel and Mohammad.
On behalf of MAF School, English Staff participates in the 1st Biennial “HCT-Cambridge ESOL CEFR Conference” held in HCT: Men’s Higher College / Dubai between 20-21 October 2011. The conference has been launched by His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, is the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and President of the Higher Colleges of Technology.
The APC with the presence of Mr. Fouad Fareed, the principal has met with the English Staff to discuss and find solutions for the new curriculum related issues.
Mr. Fouad Fareed, the principal of the school – in the presence of the English Department Team: Jalal Mabrouk, the ILC; Leroy Botha, the TDS; Hassan al-Nagar, English Teacher and Ma’moun Rabab’ah, English Teacher – has kindly honored, handed certificates and prizes for the winners students of the“Spelling Bee” Competition. At the end, the team gave them thanks for the efforts they have made throughout the period of the competition.
MAF English Department Staff and The School Admin have participated last week in Al Ghad Schools Best Practices Forum. The staff displayed some of contributions done by students and teacher throughout the academic year which showed the progress and development of our department and school. At the end of the forum ceremony, his excellency the minister of education honors the principal, Mr.Fouad for the school’s contributions.

The competition was so interesting and encouraging to the participant students were so happy to be part of such fruitful competitions.

In the context of exchange visits and share experiences among the various sectors of teaching members, Mohamed Al-Fateh School Staff was in a visit to “Sharjah Model School for Girls” on the last Tuesday, where they toured the school’s facilities and met the school’s admin and staff and listened to a brief information on the latest developments of the school.

In the context of exchange visits and share experiences, MAF school hosted the Japanese School of Dubai delegation. The delegation took a short trip within the various school facilities, attended a meeting with the school’s staff where they discussed different issues related to cooperation between the two schools.
MAF School has been nominated to be a part of the “Connecting Classrooms” Project sponsored by the British Council with the cooperation of MOE.
MAF School participated in the pilot project assigned by the British Council with other 3 schools in Ajman and Sharjah under the title “Top 5”. Our part of the project was about three science categories in addition to English – which were (Top 5 most active craters, Top 5 hardest metals and Top 5 oldest species – animals). The project was done with the cooperation of science teachers and students of grades 6 and 7.
MAG Staff attended a PD session in Rashid Bin Humaid School in Ajman titled”Teaching Writing Skills”. The PD session delivered by Mr. Zafer , the ILC. It discussed some ways to improve and develop students writing skills.
The English Department with the cooperation of school administration and the other departments is very proud to introduce to you and to the world the third issue of our English school magazine. This magazine is all about contributions by teachers and students to reflect the development of our school’s environment. Again, we are encouraging every one of our school’s staff and students to be a part of this mission by their own contributions that they would like to share with us, and we would like to thank anyone contributed or participated in this issue by any mean.

This Week PD session was titled "Teacher Talking Time" delivered by Mr. Mohamed Gamil, the TDS. "TTT" session answered some important questions on how to reduce the Teacher Talking Time inside the classrooms and increase the "Student Talking Time" or "STT" instead.
MAG English Team at MAF hosted a PD session for MAG schools in the Northern Emirates with the title "Mixed Ability Classes" which is presented by Mr.Jalel, the ILC and Mr. Leroy, the TDS.
Mr.Leroy has just started his action plan project by meeting students of “Best Readers” competition in English Department. He met selected students and explained to them the process and criteria to get engaged in the “Best Readers” competition.
The project “the action plan” aims to encourage student to read English Topics and comment, summarize or report on to their classmates.

When you’re planning your lessons how much time do you spend thinking about how you’re going to group students for the activities in your plan? Do you think about whether you’ve got a balance between pairs, groups, whole class and individual work? If you have activities for pairs and groups, do you let the students decide who they’re going to work with or do you decide? This tip looks at the advantages and disadvantages of the three main ways of grouping students. They are, giving students the choice, random grouping and selecting the groups yourself. You’ll probably find that no one way will always be the best choice for a particular group, but that you’ll use all three ways at different times depending on your students and the activities you plan to do.
We would like to introduce to our staff and Grade 7 students, the first version of the “Electronic Quiz 1″ for Grade 7 Students / Second Trimester. The Quiz is a program designed as a part of E-4-English Team’s Action Plan.
